About Ruby PCB Design

Ruby PCB Design is a PCB design bureau based in Cardiff, Wales. We have over 20 years experience in the electronics industry covering consumer, defence and medical sectors. We can advise on good EMC design practice, Design for Test and Design for Manufacture techniques.

On any new project, a strict set of in house quality procedures are adhered to. This ensures the work is carried out efficiently, minimising the cost and time to completion.

The following shows an example guide to the process we would go through when designing a pcb for manufacture from a hand drawn sketch.

  1. Analysis of customer files - Formal quote prepared for customer with realistic lead time defined.
  2. Creation of customer project file and back up. All paper documentation, i.e. hand drawn schematics, datasheets, scanned into our system and stored in the project file.
  3. New customer specific libraries and components created.
  4. Schematic entry followed by a review of electronic version of schematic with customer.
  5. Cadstar error checking limits tailored to the need of the customer taking into consideration any enclosure or manufacturing constraints.
  6. PCB board dimensions, layer formation and placement reviewed with customer.
  7. PCB layout followed by error checking with Cadstar, final review with customer.
  8. Creation of manufacturing files for customer in required format.
  9. Project file then sent to customer.

Ongoing throughout project: a regular summary of design status emailed to the customer as a way of reporting progress.
